Introduction:Accessibility:Time is Relative
From KDE-HIG_Wiki
Some users are much slower using their computer.
Ill people, or old people, take more time even if they are using the computer in a standard way. Users with low visions need longer to read the text on the screen. User with motion impairments are often using non-standard keyboards or mice, or they are simply slower when using them. Other users rely on assisitve technologies (such as screen readers, on-screen keyboards or special keyboard settings).
- Avoid hardcoded timeouts (e.g. there is a setting for the double click / drag time)
- Keep in mind that keyboard and mouse events might come from assistive technologies
